None of industries initiatives defined a specific process or a tool dedicated to planning functionalities and supportability development of aircraft, and there isn`t IPS Suite to be used as a framework for supportability development and management.
The IPS Program must be implemented in all development of complexes systems, right away in the conceptual study phase, from the preliminary study, aiming to comply with the Integrated Product Support process, which shall integrate all the logistics support elements and resources necessary to aircraft supportability throughout the development, with the focus in all life cycle.
The objective is to reach the maximum maturity condition of the product for the beginning of the operation, i.e., in enter into-service, based on the related requirements, however not limited to the product requirements, logistical, market requirements and innovation, but essentially to the those related to the experience in the operations from previous programs, and its support systems, optimizing the costs associated to it.
For this, it is important to establish the correct work structure, which shall be based not only on knowledge, but on the experiences acquired in the supportability phases of products in operation, as well as in seniority level of team`s members. In this way, the processes will not only be met, but will effectively reach the established goals.
The IPS Team must exist and be integrated with the DIP, Integrated Product Development, and should be managed by a manager with the due maturity (seniority), knowledge and experience in supporting the product. The team must be structured for Engineers with good training and high maturity in the technologies that compose the aircraft systems, beyond the experience acquired join to the customers.
ATTENTION: The IPS Team is not a project management team. Its performance goes further of a project management scope of work, i.e., it will be:
- Guarantee the composition of supportability requirements basis, its due deployment as well;
- Periodically to do the due to product development follow-up;
- Through tests and periodic checks qualify, validate each requirement implemented in the prototype aircraft.
If for any reason any requirement is not complied, at the first opportunity the IPS manager must ensure its revision, deployment and validation.
It should be part of the Core-team team in addition to the Program Manager and Product Manager, the IPS Manager.
Build a process and set up a dedicated team to meet all the planning and development characteristics of the system`s supportability.
It will be built a process to meet all the supportability planning and development characteristics of the system.
One high performance team will be formed to identify, deploy and manage all requirements of complex system supportability that will affect the product`s life cycle during its operation.
This team will be responsible for ensuring the ILSP planning, its implementation and the all requirements qualification as well. Once correctly applied in product development this solution will treat, reduce and solve the maturity problems identified so far.
SX000i, Chapter 6, Support system effectiveness
The supportability tool and process proposed will not deal with operational or administrative issues. Just supportability questions.
The any others administrative nature activities, i.e., management of planning, costs and indicators, will be duly to dealt by the project management team from referred Program under development.
History data of other IPS planning
Subsystems relationships and limitations are described, as well as the IPS plan elaboration process
Other IPS plans are taken into account as lessons learned
May be the research methodology
The advisor will follow up and redirect the efforts accordingly
Screens construction will be accomplished as completely understood and tested along the masters degree evolution.
The process and software tool proposed will be implemented in the AeroLogLabTOOL.
